A rare Welsh oak Welsh Farmhouse TableReturn to category
A rare surviving example of a Welsh Farm House Table, from the Breconshire area.
It has a superb colour and deep patina. The top has a wonderfully generous overhang at each end and ,as you may see from the images, is made from a thick, single plank.
Also typical, the top is loose and reversible.
This type of table was dual purpose, its daily face was scrubbed and would have been used for the preparation of food. On high days and holidays the top would have been reversed to show the polished side.
The table is now out of the family for the first time in many generations, and is in untouched original condition.
