The Joy of a Cottage that thinks its a County Pile

23rd April 2010

If ever there were a cottage that flaunted itself like a tiny stately home then it is Trevor Pickett’s Suffolk farmhouseBuilt in 1800, the long, low-ceilinged structure looks on to a walled cottage garden filled with roses, poppies, lupins and foxgloves. Every inch of the interior, meanwhile, is filled with ceramics, artwork, furniture and collectables, creating a decorative ambience similar to the eclectic appearance of an old English Manor House. Pickett made his name in fine leather goods and owns three London shops. His business recently celebrated its 21st anniversary; not bad for a dyslexic Essex lad who left school at 16.
